Meet Our

Planners

Lane Hayes

Carol Bush

Hello! My name is Lane. I am married to the most amazing man, a hot drummer with a beard and two full sleeves, don't be jelly ladies! I am a mother to a beautiful girl, Miss Vada Lane age 5, and a boy, Gavin Connor age 11, and I am bonus mom to 3 teen girls (pray for my sanity) as well as two fur babies, Charlie and Piggy (yes, i have dog named Pig!)

I am a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a bachelor's in interpersonal communications. I found a love for wedding and event planning while I was working with my wedding planner and decided to pursue what has turned into an amazing career.

My favorite part about wedding planning is meeting all of the amazing new people we come across every day that always become family to us. I also love being able to put together the magical moments that will turn into lifetime memories.

FUN FACTS:

I am a Starbucks junkie! Seriously, what do they put in that stuff to make it so good?

Footie pajamas are LIFE.

I have a full sleeve of tattoos (thanks to Brad at Saint Tattoos) but you probably will never see them as i always keep them covered in a professional environment.

My first tattoo was my husband's name. We had only been dating for three months. But I just knew it was meant to be.

I graduated as the valedictorian of my high school and began college at the age of 16.

My husband and I were married in the same place we had our first date (the wedding of a mutual friend).

Hello! My name is Carol. I am the wife to an incredibly goofy and hardworking man named Richy who I definitely don't deserve and a momma to a beautiful fur baby named Bella.

I am a graduate of Carson-Newman University with a bachelor's of Music Performance and an M.A.T. in Curriculum and Instruction. Even though I had other plans for my life in the music education field, there has always been a huge love for planning events, After planning my own wedding in 2015, I decided this was what I was meant to do!

There are so many amazing things I love about planning weddings and events, especially bringing people together through weddings. I also love seeing our clients' visions of their perfect day come to life!

FUN FACTS:

I am an avid Gilmore Girls fanatic and believe that Jess was the perfect guy for Rory and coffee is life . #teamjess

I play horn for the Tennessee Wind Symphony.

I am a huge Auburn fan! War Eagle!

On the weeknights and weekends if I am not planning a wedding or event, you can find me in my craft room working on products for my Etsy shop. I LOVE crafting.

I met my husband on his front porch (I was driving around with mutual friends and they decided we were going to go see him at his house).

My husband proposed to me in the shark tank at Ripley's Aquarium on our three year anniversary and my 22nd birthday. My first words were "are you kidding me?" I know... what a very romantic response.

What Makes

Us Unique

We like to believe that we aren't like other planners. You won't find us in heels and pearls on the wedding day, but we may be looking like secret agents or bank robbers (no joke, we have a legitimate fear of stopping into a bank on the way to an event). We aren't afraid to get our hands dirty and will without question take 25,000+ steps in one day while blistering our feet to make sure that your wedding or event goes beyond expectations (we should probably get some better shoes. Now accepting recommendations for shoes!)

We aren't afraid to be ourselves because let's be honest, we are awesome. We don't believe in awkward stuffy client meetings that end in a handshake. Instead, we like to keep the atmosphere light and enjoyable and part ways with a hug instead of a handshake. Our clients always turn into new friends, and we think that is really cool.

Our personalities are extremely relatable. We are tribute band junkies, karaoke singing fools on a late Saturday night, Instant Pot obsessed, pinterest project addicted, lady weightlifters, riesling connoisseurs and craft store-aholics. Put this all together, and you have Carol and Lane.

Our planning process is like no other. All of our events are planned by us and only us. We plan, design and execute each event. You won't see any unfamiliar faces on the big day. We go above and beyond to make sure our clients are 100% happy, even if we go beyond our contracted services. Happy Client = Happy Planner. No task is too intense or to crazy for us to handle. We strive to make sure that our clients are able to experience their wedding or event with no stress or worries. Leave it all to us to take care of the nitty gritty. We don't mind. :)

If this appeals to you and we haven't scared you off yet, let's be friends! Contact us to get the ball rolling on your wedding or event.

MORE FUN FACTS ABOUT THE LADIES OF CARPE DIEM EVENT AND DESIGN:

Carol and Lane met through their husbands. Lane's husband Drinnen mentored Carol's husband Richy when he first arrived on the job at Lance Cunningham Ford (go check them out!). They have been inseparable ever since.

Carol and Richy live in an apartment located in Lane and Drinnen's home. It's like one big FRIENDS episode. Carol and Lane's home office as well as their design studio is also located in their home.

When there is downtime, Carol and Lane are found working on craft projects or refurbishing furniture for their home.

Carol and Lane have an in home recording studio. Carol can carry a tune pretty well, but Lane's singing voice can scare small children.
